Tax Increases; Promises Broken

Correct me if I am wrong. Did President Obama promise to not increase taxes on those making less than $250,000.00? I am retired Navy. My pay last year and this year are the same, no COLA. My total retirement pay is $19,272.00. My FITW changed from $29.30 to $46.00 or $16.70 more per week; $200.40 yearly. I understand, increases are required to help offset the 14 trillion debt we now have as a result of wasted speanding by our illustrious politicians. I would have no problem with the increase had it been in conjunction with a COLA. Since it was not, and my pay is actually, for the fist time, less than the previous year is proof President Obama has again broken his promise not to raise taxes on the middle class.

We ar all struggling in this recession. It appears, the only ones not suffering are the politicians and in particular, President Obama. Maybe if he got off television and parked Air Force One, he might have time to spend in the office getting this economy back on track and maybe, just maybe, keep a promise.

He and his cronies in the White House are still spewing the same party line, there will be no tax increases for those making less than $250.000.00 per year. Well Mr President, my only advise to you at this time is: If YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR PROMISES--SHUT UP!!

We the silent majority have had enough of the politics, the lies, the bribes, and the false promises. I served my country for 20 years for a pitance, you Mr President will likely serve 4 years and get a hefty $100.000.00 (plus) for the rest of your life. You can afford a tax increase, I cannot!!

Keep your promise--no tax increase on those making less than $250,000.00. If you do not, I hope the rest of the silent majority vote you, and those in the Congress and Senate who are hell bent on bankrupting this country out of office, and get some real Americans back in to put this country back on the road to recovery.

Mr President, I am mad as hell, and I for one am not going to be disrespected and lied to by you, or any politician any longer.

Misuse Of The Constitution

The Constitution is under constant attack by those who have only their agenda to fulfill. Politicians are using the constitution as the basis to justify their political, financial, or journalistic advancement. This was unthinkable 50 years ago, with the majority of us fighting daily just to survive, we have been relegated to the level of silence. There is never enough time to protest or take action to override minority rule, which has become the standard, for policy and decision making in America.

Politicians are no longer influenced by what the majority of American's desire, rather are influenced by big corporate money, and those groups and even individuals who constantly badger them until they finally remit. They know, only a small amount of the total voting population actually vote, therefore, their primary influence and allegiance are to those who are making the decisions, the minority. Again, we the majority remain silent.

Politicians can never agree and refuse to come together to solve our problems. Groups and individuals with personal agendas argue for their rights. All use misinterpretation, or interpret to fit their political or personal goals. Their decisions constantly erode the rights of the majority to benefit the wealthy and influential.

It is time for us to take back control of our lives and stop the madness that appears to be prevalent today. Through voting and vocalizing our desires, we can once again concentrate on the major issues and get back to living instead of simply surviving.

The ramblings of a madman, you decide!

Where Is The Leadership?

Where Is The Leadership?

As our population exceeds 300 million people in America, I consider the choices we now have for elected office, and the choices we will have in the next few years. I wonder why there is an inadequate number of leaders to step forward and lead this country.

Are we setting a trend for electing officials we love to hate or those who endure scandal? With 300 million we should be looking at a very large pool of highly qualified leaders.

I believe the major reason we don't have leaders stepping forward; they do not want to be scrutinized and humiliated by newspaper and television media. These sources appear to control politics in America and through bombardment of their political agenda, over step and influence voters to support their candidates. Daily, in both media, there is a demeaning attitude aimed at opponents who do not agree with their philosophy of how America should be run. These sources stop at nothing to find anything in an opponent's background to cause scandal and sway voters.

Each election year, outstanding candidates put their hat in the arena for office. The fallout is enormous. They are attacked and have skeletons from years ago dug up by sensationalistic media. These skeletons are usually private and do not affect their ability to lead, the motivation for this behavior is foremost, destroy their credibility and eliminate them as competition. It has gotten so bad, the best qualified refuse to run and the least qualified are leading our great nation.

Where are they? They are all around us. Unrecognized, doing their job daily, making mistakes, leading law abiding lives, fearful of what they see, yet refusing to take a stand and have their lives destroyed. Who cares if they had affairs, got a DUI in their early years, smoked, but never inhaled, or never served in the military? I believe we are reaching beyond the requirement of the position for which they are running and setting standards higher than most can achieve today. It is the issues and ability of the candidate to lead that should be the major influence. The media treat us as idiots who do not have the intelligence to decide the direction we want America to take.

Forget the media; let's get back to electing officials who can get the job done. Obviously, what we are experiencing now is not working.

You who are without sin, cast the first stone or get the hell out of the way.

It Is You

My tribute to Flag Day.

A symbol of respect, pride, and strength,
not to be ruffled, wadded, or soiled,
to be folded, unfurled, raised for all to see,
as in going into battle resounding victory.

Not to be tattered, torn, or burned in effigy,
rather a symbol of hope to those in bondage,
of hate for those who seek to enslave,
of patriotism to those who guard fiercely,
enshrined with those who died for liberty,
entrusted to each generation to decide its fate,
to be the most loved or most hated,
to be seen in every city, state, and on foreign soil,
wherever seen America is found.

No other symbol rises above or would be allowed,
representing freedom, recognized the world round,
a powerful adversary to an enemy
a gentle giant to those who are represented.

A symbol of red and white,
with fifty shining stars on a field of blue,
call it a flag,
in reality it is you.
